Cheryl's first exposure to ham radio was as a shortwave listener in grade school where she took a keen interest. As an adult, she received a novice ticket back in 1975 while serving in the US Navy but her military career and later a corporate career distracted her for three decades.
Her military training gave her extensive experiance in wavelengths significantly above 300MHZ. In the spring of 2010 the glowing ember of ham radio exploded in her heart once again. In April 2010 she passed her a Technican license test and a few weeks later in May she passed her General license test. Then in in September she passed her Amateur Extra class test.
Cheryl is currently on 2 meters VHF and frequents the 80m & 40m ssb phone bands.
